Associate Lawyer - Litigation

Caron & Partners LLP is a mid-sized Calgary law firm dedicated to providing clients with quality legal services and strategic advice for over 55 years. We offer a broad range of legal services in various practice areas.

Our firm is currently seeking a motivated Associate Lawyer with at least 6 years of experience to join our litigation team. As a lawyer on our litigation team, you will engage in all aspects of civil litigation, including advising clients,drafting court materials, attending court hearings, and conducting examinations for discovery, mediation, judicial review, trials, and appeals. You will have the opportunity to work in a collegial team environment and grow your own practice with our marketing support.

Areas of Practice (any one or combination are preferred):

• Contract and commercial disputes;

• Judgment enforcement;

• Commercial insolvency and restructuring;

• Shareholder disputes;

• Employment;

• Construction;

• Real-estate litigation;

• Experience in complex, multi-faceted litigation and experience with Ipro are considered assets.

Essential Experience:

• Possess an LLB or JD, and be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta;

• Have a minimum of 6 years of practice experience in Litigation;

• Proven high-quality written and oral advocacy skills;

• Possess excellent file and client management competence;

• Strong intrapersonal and teamwork skills;

• Entrepreneurial interest and a desire to build client relationships;

• Be technologically proficient.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and analysis in a variety of civil litigation areas;

• Conduct legal research and analysis;

• Draft pleadings, application materials, briefs and factums;

• Prepare legal correspondence;

• Prepare witnesses for and conduct questionings on affidavits and for discovery;

• Appear in court, including regular chambers, specials, and trial; and

• Conduct regular practice management tasks.
