Lead Paralegal – Corporate
Caron & Partners LLP is a mid-sized Calgary law firm, dedicated to providing clients with quality legal services and strategic counselling for over 50 years. We provide a broad range of legal services in a variety of practice areas.
We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Paralegal to join our team. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
Oversee the preparation of Annual returns and Resolutions by team members
Lead and coordinate complex corporate reorganizations, mergers, and due diligence projects
Review and audit minute books for accuracy and completeness
Draft advanced corporate documentation, including amalgamations, continuances, and share transactions
Commission and verify statutory declarations, affidavits, and compliance documents related to corporate filings; oversee adherence to firm and legislative requirements; and mentor junior staff in proper witnessing and commissioning procedures
Liaise directly with clients, accountants, and government agencies on corporate compliance
Develop and maintain firm-wide templates, precedents, and best-practice checklists
Mentor, train, and review the work of junior and intermediate paralegals
Corporate filings of extra-provincial registration & NWPTA
Support the Department Head with workflow planning and efficiency initiatives
Research legislative and procedural updates and communicate changes to the team
Assist in high-level billing review and client relationship management.
Skills and Experience Required:
Paralegal certification from an accredited institution
8 – 12 years of experience as Corporate Paralegal
Advanced use of CORES Level III
Multi-provincial experience
Experience working with ALF is required
PPR certification is an asset
Clio experience is an asset
Proven leadership, mentorship, and training skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Full knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook
