Associate Lawyer
Caron & Partners LLP is a leading Calgary law firm with a strong reputation across various legal disciplines. We are seeking a General Associate Lawyer to join our team. This position is ideal for a lawyer with 1 to 5 years of experience in municipal law, construction law, privacy law, and administrative tribunal law who is eager to expand their knowledge and skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research and stay current with developments in municipal, construction, privacy, and administrative law.
Draft clear and persuasive legal documents, including submissions, pleadings, and opinions across various matters.
Work closely with clients to gather pertinent information, ensure accuracy of facts, and assist in preparing supporting documentation.
Prepare clients for appearances at tribunals and hearings, including explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
Represent clients in administrative hearings and other legal proceedings, advocating effectively on their behalf.
Collaborate with senior lawyers on case strategy and management, contributing to a cohesive team approach.
Qualifications:
LL.B. or J.D. and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
1 to 5 years of practice with experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: municipal law, construction law, privacy law, or administrative tribunal law.
Demonstrated interest in litigation, advocacy, with strong written and oral communication skills.
Exceptional research, drafting, and analytical abilities.
Strong research, drafting, and analytical skills.
Diligent and detail-oriented, capable of preparing thoroughly for hearings and managing complex files.
Resilient and confident advocate, willing to tackle challenging cases.
Highly driven and eager to learn, with a commitment to going beyond the minimum and putting in the effort needed to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle competing deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
Ability to manage files independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
A willingness to learn and develop an independent practice over time, even if not yet established.
