A name search is required in Alberta in the following cases:

• to incorporate an Alberta company with a name other than a number;
• to incorporate a company under the federal Business Corporations Act;
• to register an extra-provincial company in Alberta;
• to change the name of an Alberta or federal company;
• to register a declaration of trade name;
• to determine whether the name is available for registration as a trade-mark under the Trade-Marks Act. 

The written results of a name search are contained in a NUANS report.

For a fee of $64.20 including GST we will:

• conduct a name search;
• confirm by email within one business day that one of the searched names is available (or not as the case may be);
• provide you with a copy (by mail) of the NUANS report.
