Patricia Maia holds a Bachelor of
Arts in Political Studies and a Masters of Arts in
Philosophy from the University of Manitoba.
Patricia obtained her Law Degree from Dalhousie Law
School in 1998 and was called to the Manitoba Bar in
1999.

Practice |
|
Since 2003, Patricia’s practice
has primarily been in citizenship and immigration
law. Prior to joining Caron & Partners
LLP, she
practiced with a distinguished immigration law firm
in Winnipeg. During that time, she gained a broad
range of experience in citizenship and immigration
matters, including; appeals before the Immigration
Appeal Division of the Immigration & Refugee Board,
family sponsorship, temporary foreign workers,
humanitarian and compassionate cases, criminal
rehabilitation and Federal Court advocacy.

| Associations |
Patricia was the Former Secretary
of the Manitoba Bar Association’s Immigration Law
Section and has lectured on Immigration Law at the
University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law. She has
successfully argued before the Manitoba Provincial
Court, the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, the Manitoba
Court of Appeal, the Immigration and Refugee Board, and
the Federal Court.
Patricia is a member of the Law Society of Alberta as
well as the Canadian Bar Association.
Patricia prides herself on working
closely with her clients to achieve creative legal
solutions. As well, Patricia can communicate in the
language of Portuguese.
